2. The Weekly Spendable:
Your “spendable” is the amount left after covering fixed expenses and non-negotiables. Track only this one number each week for food, retail, and entertainment. It helps eliminate guilt and emotional overspending while ensuring your money goes where it matters most.
3. Life Jacket Funds (not Sinking Funds!):
Set up separate savings accounts for key spending areas—vacations, kids’ activities, home/car repairs, and Christmas—so you’re prepared and less likely to fall back on credit. Automating transfers to these accounts builds real financial security and peace of mind.
4. The Power of Cash:
Switching to cash for just 30 days can reduce spending by up to 25%. Angie recommends trying it for weekly spendables to increase awareness and shift habits—even temporarily.
5. For Self-Employed Women:
Angie shared strategies for managing variable income using her reverse-engineered anti-budget approach. She also recommends the book Profit First by Mike Michalowicz, which teaches entrepreneurs how to allocate income in percentages for profit, taxes, and operating expenses.
